1. Compatibility Standards for Distribution Networks and Products

These standards ensure that the harmonics generated by any device do not exceed permissible limits that could disrupt the distribution network. Moreover, devices must function correctly even in the presence of certain levels of electrical disturbances.

- IEC 61000-2-2: Applies to public low-voltage power supply systems.
- IEC 61000-2-4: Relevant to low and medium voltage industrial installations.

2. Standards for the Quality of Distribution Networks

These standards define the quality and characteristics of electricity supplied by public networks. 

- EN 50160: Specifies the general characteristics of electricity supplied by public distribution systems.
- Ieee 519: Establishes a collaborative approach between Utilities and customers to minimize the impact of non-linear loads. Utilities are increasingly likely to take preventative measures to preserve power quality, which may include imposing charges on customers responsible for significant harmonic generation.

3. Equipment Standards

These standards set limits on harmonic emissions for electrical equipment based on their rated current.

- IEC 61000-3-2: Covers low-voltage equipment with a rated current below 16 A.
- IEC 61000-3-12: Applies to low-voltage equipment with a rated current between 16 A and 75 A.
